    First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) operates a large operated Food Pantry, directed by Sherwood Smith. Featured in the Marietta Daily Journal and on Atlanta TV Channel 46 (CBS), the Disciples Mission Food Pantry is a place where families in Marietta and throughout Cobb County come who have nowhere else to turn.

    Beginning January 1, 2008 the Food Pantry will  be open on Monday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please plan the next weeks accordingly. Due to the increase in service hours, the Food Pantry will need volunteer help. If you are able to, and are willing to, volunteer on Mondays and Saturdays, please contact the church.

    The contributions of food goes to helping approximately 400 to 600 families per month. A staff of 22 shops for food, stocks the storerooms and picks up contributed breads and sweets, repacks foods, prepares frozen food bags, registers clients, keeps records, and assists clients each Saturday & Monday from 9:00am to 12:00pm.  Other volunteers stuff grocery bags Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.

Food Pantry Needs and Wish List:

• Clean plastic grocery bags & brown paper grocery bags
• Bibles
• Non-perishable food items
• Financial contributions are always welcomed!!

COBB ASSISTANCE PARTNERSHIP (CAP)

    An alliance of churches and agencies organized to provide assistance to homeless and other disadvantaged persons in Cobb County, the Cobb Assistance Partnership (CAP) assists disadvantaged persons with food, clothing, transportation, rental and utility assistance, temporary lodging, and referral to other essential services. First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is an active participant in the Cobb Assistance Partnership.
