Watkins was invited to preach at the National Prayer Service in Washington, DC during the inauguration of President Obama in 2009. The church is identified with the Protestant “mainstream” and is widely involved in social and other concerns. Disciples have supported vigorously world and national programs of education, agricultural assistance, racial reconciliation, care of the developmentally disabled, and aid to victims of war and calamity.

Mission of First Christian Church of Marietta
Offering food to those without food.Offering hope to those without hope.
Offering healing services monthly.
Praying diligently daily.
Providing support and services to those persons with addictions.
Giving all Glory and Praise to God.
Taking Communion to shut-ins.
Providing worship and Communion to Atherton Place.
Providing a safe place for the Spanish speaking community to worship.
Opening our doors of safety to persons with diabetes.
Visiting the sick and imprisoned.
Our Ministries
First Christian Church of Marietta sponsors many ministries to help the community including Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service, Food Pantry, Healing Service, and Gamblers' Anonymous. Our Anniversary
In 2009 we are celebrating the 60 year anniversary of our church! 60 years of working in the community. 60 years of coming together for faith and prayer. Four members of the church are original members from 1949--Larry Moon, Mildred Lockhart, Kathryn Davis, and Sue Merritt. One celebration was held on May 24 with food and fellowship.
